We chose the Hi-Low RV park. It's a Passport America park and allows us to stay as long as two weeks at half price. We committed to a week and may extend, depending. I was here last year before Christmas, and know it to be a nice quiet park five miles south of town.
We left Tucson at about 10:00. Cathy made arrangements for her mail to be picked up. A friend of ours, Pat, is staying the Summer and is gladly helping out with the mail pickup. It was getting hot by the time we left. It was in the upper 70's and going on into the 80's and possibly into the 90's.
Deming, from my Internet search, averages about 8 degrees cooler at this time of year. It doesn't sound like a big difference, but a few degrees can sometimes be a big deal.
It was a three and a half hour drive. We averaged about 60 mph the whole way, with one rest stop for a little lunch. I got a whopping 11.4 miles to the gallon, which is excellent towing mileage for me.

Once we arrived, we helped each other set up. The clouds rolled in while in route and it smelled like it might rain. It never did, though. It sure is nice to arrive at a destination with somebody, rather than doing it alone. We got set up and Cathy grilled some hot dogs on her new grill! Mac and Sam bought a new one and were kind to offer their current grill to Cathy.
Now all we have to do is get our bearings for the area and do a little exploring.

Hi Steve -
I moved to Deming about 18 months ago. I started a blog called "My Life in Deming" but I kind of pooped out on it a while back.
If you can, don't miss City of Rocks State Park while you're in the area (early morning or evening are best). If I had an RV, I'd be up there for overnights frequently. There's just something about it . .
