A Post after a Break

We have been in Tucson for a week now. I'm sorry about the break in posts. I thought a nice little vacation from blogging was in line. There is something about traveling from the Pacific Northwest to Idaho, then back to Oregon for a trailer fix, then back on the road and 1,000 miles to get to Tucson, that puts an emphasis on relaxation. That's what Cathy and I have been doing - relaxing.

It's a good break from the sometimes hectic nature of traveling on the road. We've hit the pavement pretty hard this last month. Though we have stayed for a week at a time, here and there, we've been so busy seeing the sites at those places that we've never had a chance to really relax. Aaaah, it feels so good not doing anything for a while.

Don't get me wrong. We've had a few hikes locally in the surrounding desert. It's more to get out and stretch our legs more than anything else. We've spent this week on Passport America rates. It saves a lot of money. Tomorrow I will be investing in a three month stay. The rates at Justin's Diamond J, in the primo spots with the desert as a backyard are $497.00 a month for a 3 month commitment. That's what I am doing. I think Cathy will move to Desert Trails, next door, at a lower rate.

In the mean time, I've settled in and put the bird feeders out. It is amazing how many birds there are here. I pointed my camera out the back window of the trailer and shot birds for ten minutes on one day. These are the fellows that stopped by:

This is one with no common name; Pyrrhuloxia

 Gila Woodpecker

 Gilded Flicker

I'm not sure about the name of this guy

Curve Billed Thrasher

 Gila Woodpecker

Finches

I have the humming bird feeders up and have had a few stop by. They seem to be very infrequent right now. I hope they step up their visits. I enjoy watching them fight for position. There are Verdins that try to snatch a drink from the hummer feeders too.

Tomorrow is a hike with Cathy and Dave. I'll be back to blogging regularly again!
